10 CHARACTERS TO KNOW BEFORE 'THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER'

GALADRIL

One of the most attractive and potent elves who carried the Rings of Power, Nenya, will be portrayed by Morfydd Clark as a much younger Galadriel, who was first portrayed on screen by Cate Blanchett.

ELENDIL

This face will be with us for a very, very long time, so get used to it. Elendil, the father of Isildur, the first High King of Dunedain, will be portrayed by Lloyd Owen as the reluctant hero. He assisted in leading the attack on Sauron at the Siege of Barad-dur, as fans of the series will know.

ELROND

One familiar character in "The Rings of Power" will be Elrond. Robert Aramayo will take on the part that was originally played by Hugo Weaving, and he will walk us through the character's journey in the Second Age.

GIL-GALAD

Benjamin Walker will portray Gil-galad, the High King of the Elves in Middle-Earth. In his role as High King, Gil-galad exercised the highest level of power among Elves in Middle-Earth and played a significant role in the formation of the Last Alliance that ultimately led to Sauron's destruction at the end of the Second Age.

ISILDUR

Despite not being a primary character in The Lord of the Rings books, Isildur is nevertheless a significant player in the first trilogy. Growing up to be a legendary character in Middle-earth, this Nmenórean seaman helped create the kingdom of Gondor and ultimately cut the One Ring from Sauron's fingers.

DURIN IV

In the Dwarf Kingdom of Khazad-Dum, Owain Arthur will ascend to the throne as Prince Durin IV. Given that he wears the Ring of Power that was passed down to him by Durin III, he will be one of the main characters in the show.

DISA

Disa, the Princess of the Dwarves of Khazad-dum,is another unique character created specifically for the show. While Sophia Nomvete, who plays the part of the royal Dwarf doesn't sport a beard, the makers confirmed that the show will feature women with facial hair.

CELEBRIMBOR

There aren't many figures more significant to the history of Middle-Earth than the Elf Celebrimbor, the Ringmaker himself. Celebrimbor, who is portrayed by Charles Edwards, is a master smith and the monarch of the Eregional realm.

ARONDIR

Ismael Cruz Córdova, a Puerto Rican actor, will portray Arondir, another original character for the Amazon Prime series. Given that Arondir is a Silvan Elf, or Wood Elf, his native Lorien or the Woodland Realm is most likely where he comes from.

BRONWYN

A village healer, Bronwyn will be played by Nazanin Boniadi. Bronwyn is a single mother from a village called Tirharad, likely somewhere on the border of Harad in the far south of Middle-Earth.
